The College generates overarching policy themes from its strategic objectives. We select projects by identifying areas of practice and service delivery where we believe we might be able to influence policy and decision makers to make changes that will help optometrists make a difference for their patients.
Once we have decided on the topic, we gather and evaluate the evidence, analyse and discuss the issues in relation to the external context, and make recommendations on the conclusions we draw.
The result is a report, led by a steering group made up of members selected for their expertise and breadth of knowledge. This leads to practical actions that will move the issues forward.
