Dr Kathryn Saunders BSc MCOptom

Kathryn is a Reader in Vision Science and Head of Subject in Optometry at the University of Ulster, Coleraine, Northern Ireland .  Her main research interests relate to development of refractive error, the impact of neurological impairment on vision in childhood and optimising visual potential of children with special needs.  Her research involves multi-disciplinary colloborations with paediatricians, orthoptists, optometrists and ophthalmologists across the Health Trusts in Northern Ireland. She is on the executive committee of Optometry Northern Ireland and represents the College on the Vision2020 Learning Disability Group.

Sara McCullough BSc MCOptom

Sara McCullough BSc MCOptom

Sara graduated from the University of Ulster in 2007 and undertook her pre-registration year in private optometric practice. She returned to the University of Ulster for post-graduate study investigating “Ocular aberrations in Down syndrome” and expects to complete in 2011. Sara’s research interests include the impact of Down syndrome on ocular structure and shape and it’s influence on optical quality and visual function. Sara also works as a locum optometrist and as a clinical demonstrator at the University of Ulster. She currently sits on the education committee.
