For some of you, the final hurdle of the Scheme for Registration is approaching; 350 trainees will be sitting the OSCE in July. You have already demonstrated what will be tested in this examination to an assessor during your work placement. You have covered everything before, so don’t over-think, just go for it!
If you want more information, download the candidate information pack from our website and you can watch the OSCE video, which highlights how the day will work. Don’t forget you are being assessed on your professional behaviour, your application of clinical knowledge and communication skills
On the day, make sure you are suitably prepared and arrive in good time. Don’t under-estimate the volume of traffic going into central Manchester and ensure that you allow plenty of time to walk from the nearest available car-parking spaces to the OSCE centre. Even better use public transport. If you have any problems, call 020 7766 4367.
Whatever the result, we would like to hear about your experiences of the Scheme for Registration. Your feedback will help ensure that trainees are suitably prepared to practice optometry when they qualify.
There’s not much more for me to say other than, good luck!
