Salary: £80k pro rata part time

The College of Optometrists is the professional, scientific and examining body for optometrists in the UK. A registered charity, the College works to ensure that the public is better informed about the role of the optometrist and the importance of good eye health, facilitates research that contributes towards the development of the existing evidence-base and ensures that the profession is up to date.

We wish to recruit a Director of Finance to be responsible for the delivery of the College’s financial, regulatory, company secretarial and facilities services.

A significant aspect of the role is to provide proactive financial and operational management support and direction to a small finance team, other Directors, employees and the College Trustees.

The successful candidate must have experience of; managing financial systems, setting and managing budgets, producing accurate and timely management accounts and cash flow forecasts, identifying performance issues and overspends, producing ad hoc analysis, providing financial advice and direction on operational and business issues (including investments) as well as managing and developing team members.

Ideally you will be a graduate, with an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with post qualification experience gained in financial roles. Commercially astute, entrepreneurial and IT literate you will have a track record of demonstrable achievement preferably gained in a not for profit environment. You must have strong communication skills and be prepared to roll up your sleeves to cover all accounting tasks to ensure work is completed and delivered on time.

This will be a 12 month fixed term contract with the potential to renew.
