Expert Spokespeople

The College has a directory of a number of expert advisers who have volunteered to speak to the media on their specialist area. Spokespeople include:

	Dr Rob Hogan BSc PhD MCOptom - Immediate Past President Rob is President and a Trustee of the College of Optometrists. He is also a member of the GOC, a Trustee of Vision 2020-UK and a founder Board member of the newly-formed European Academy of Optometry & Optics. His day job is the Head of Professional Services for the new Company formed from the merger of Dollond & Aitchison and Boots Opticians, and until recently was a member of the Birmingham Local Optometric Committee.
	Dr Susan Blakeney PhD LLM LLB BSc (Hons) FCOptom Susan is the College's Optometric Adviser and is a practising optometrist. She is Optometric Adviser to the three Primary Care Trusts in Kent and attends Kent LOC in her role of Optometric Adviser to the PCTs. Susan has also completed two Law Degrees and a PhD and is currently studying for an MA in medical ethics and law. Susan has experience of running training courses and has also published several articles.
	Dr Cindy Tromans PhD BSc MCOptom DipTp(AS) DipTpIP(SP) - President Cindy is Vice President of the College. She is a Consultant Optometrist in the Department of Optometry at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and and also lectures at the University of Manchester. Cindy sits on the College Research Committee and is a College examiner. She is a College Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
	Kevin Lewis BSc FCOptom DipCLP – Past President Kevin is Immediate Past President of the College and College Trustee. He is an independent optometrist practising in Essex and also a College Nominee on the General Optical Council. Kevin is a visiting contact lens clinician at City University.
	David Cartwright BSc MCOptom MBA - Past President David is a Past President of the College. He qualified in 1980 and has wide experience in optometry. David is the Professional Services Director for Boots Opticians Ltd, an Elected Member of the General Optical Council and a College Examiner. He sits on a number of national groups such as the National Screening Committee for Diabetic Retinopathy.
	Dr Kamlesh Chauhan PhD BSc MCOptom - Vice President Kamlesh qualified in 1990 and has developed wide experience of Optometry having worked in private and multiple optometric practice, hospital, university and industry. He is currently the Head of The Vision Care Institute at Johnson and Johnson Medical, UK. Kamlesh is the current Chair of the Research Committee and a College Trustee. Amongst other College roles Kamlesh is a College Examiner and the Chair of the Assessment Board.
