College invites optometrists to author CPD Online

The College has a Vision of a society where policy makers and the public understand the unique role optometrists play in providing the nation’s eye care, and recognise membership of the College as the guarantee of the best clinical and ethical standards from practitioners who put the welfare of patients before all other considerations

Optometrists have a responsibility to maintain and keep up to date their professional skills and knowledge.  CPD Online is a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) tool designed for Optometrists, to support every aspect of an Optometrist’s development in a way that is tailored specifically to the individual’s professional career aspirations.

The College is seeking to identify a suitably qualified and experienced professional to provide authoring services to work with us to develop the CPD online tool. This person must have a passion for professional excellence, sharing knowledge, and designing user friendly guidance materials in order to further develop the content and guidance held within CPD Online. 
The remit of this project is to deliver on a number of critical tasks including, reviewing existing content, identifying gaps within the current format, creating new guidance as well as compiling materials supporting all areas of CPD online.

It is envisaged that this project will require a commitment of two days a week for a maximum of 3 months and a fee of £300 per day will be offered.

Interim Director of Professional Services, Amanda Grainger commented “The College strives to raise the bar of professional competence, and promotes best  practice of optometry to the benefit of the public. Therefore, CPD online is crucial for optometrists to further develop excellence across their skills. The person providing authoring services will ensure that all aspects of CPD are relevant, accurate and progressive.”
