Open House - visit our College

31 August 2010 Return to news listings

Our annual open day will take place on Sunday 19 September between 1pm and 5pm. As always the event coincides with the capital-wide Open House London event in which over 700 public and private buildings open their doors to the public, for free, to give them a insight as to what goes on inside. The open day is a rare opportunity to visit the College’s fine Georgian building outside of normal office hours and a chance to explore the extensive displays of the British Optical Association Museum without needing to book an appointment.

The exhibits are spread throughout the premises and members of College staff, as well as optometrists and experts from the Ophthalmic Antiques International Collectors’ Club, will be on hand to help explain what you can see. This year, for the first time, a neuroscientist will be available to explain the ‘architecture’ of the eye’s visual pathways and there will also be the opportunity to view a rare film of the BOA Museum as it was in 1963.
