  1. SelfCertifying CET Credits

    The College has sent out forms to all Members to self-certify their CET credits for 2003. Members are asked to submit their details by 16th January 2004.

  2. College Library to close for refurbishment

    The College of Optometrists library will close between 5 January and 1 February 2004 for refurbishment. The disruption in service will affect Members ability to borrow books and study in the library, not the renewal of loans or the return of books. There will be a limited postal service for those resources that are most frequently in demand.

  3. Falls Prevention on Colleges Agenda

    The College of Optometrists and the British Geriatrics Society today released the document entitled The Importance of Vision in Preventing Falls. This has been endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners and recommends that all people undergoing a falls assessment should be screened for visual impairment and those identified as suffering from a visual impairment should have a full eye examination.

    MPs and Peers attended a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Eye Health and Visual Impairment on Tuesday 28 October at the House of Commons.

  6. Annual College Diploma - 28 January 2004

    The annual College Diploma Presentation Ceremony will take place on Wednesday 28 January 2004 at Guildhall in London. There will be a morning and afternoon ceremony and over 1000 people are expected to attend the event.

  8. Short-sighted about childrens vision

    Nine out of ten parents fear their children losing their sight above all other senses, and yet it is now likely that school children in Britain may only ever have their vision screened once. If the recommendations of a new Government Body publication are followed, the UK may soon have the worst child vision screening system in the developed world.

  9. Open House at the College

    On Sunday September 21st the doors of the College of Optometrists will be open to the public as part of the annual London Open House weekend.

  10. College announces departure of Helen Stanforth

    4 September 2003

    The College of Optometrists will today say goodbye to its Head of Professional Services, Helen Stanforth. Helen, who has been with the College for 13 years, is leaving to seek part time work and to have more time to spend on other interests.
