Reasonable adjustments

If you have a disability, we may be able to make reasonable adjustments to your assessments and/or final examination. View the Equality Act 2010 for the definition of a disability and more information on reasonable adjustments. Please remember we can only make adjustments to the arrangements, not to the standard, of the assessment. Temporary circumstances that might affect your performance in the assessment, such as illness, pregnancy or bereavement, will not be taken into account. This is because the assessment date can be changed and we would expect you to cancel and book a later assessment. The Scheme for Registration regulations detail the College’s procedure for reasonable adjustments in full.

Once complete, please return this form by email to emily.stevens@college-optometrists.org, or by post to Emily Stevens, The College of Optometrists, 42 Craven Street, London. WC2N 5NG. We will acknowledge receipt of your application by email and will contact you directly about the application within 10 working days.  If commencing the Scheme for Registration, the form should be submitted as close to your enrolment as possible to ensure you receive reasonable adjustments for all assessments. The form must be submitted at least 6 weeks prior to any assessment or examination for which you would like reasonable adjustments to be considered. Late submission may reduce the likelihood of reasonable adjustments being granted in time.  Further information regarding Reasonable Adjustments can be found in the Trainee Handbook.
