One of the prime aims of the College is the advancement for the public benefit of the study of and research into ophthalmic optics and related subjects and the publication of the results. It encourages and supports appropriate research in those areas through its Research Fund, which funds a PhD bursary at each of the Universities in the UK offering degrees in optometry. In recent years the College’s Research Fund has supported summer scholarships, travel bursaries and some practice-based research.
