is it advisable to wear contact lenses after cataract surgery? Had a px enquiry who was considering her options for the interim period between operations for each eye.

i thought as long as the hospital has given the all clear (they should check corneal integrity and oedema) then it should be ok. I'd wait until the vision and cornea are settled (K's would be affected??)

Not seen a case like this though....!

The question would be why shouldn't they wear CL after cataract surgery?

With present day, small incision, self sealing wounds, there should be little or no change in keratometry or power (if they've calculated the IOL correctly). We fit soft bandage contact lenses to patients with leaking wounds who are surely at higher risk of CL related infection than patients with sealed wounds. We also fit RGPs to aphakics and anisometropes. All bets are off though if they've had an ECCE or post operative infection.
