eccentric fixation
Mar 22, 2005 22:42:33 eccentric fixation is a monocular condition wer the eye constantly fixates with a point other the fovea.
but does this eccentic fixation point of one eye correspond to the fovea of the other eye??
is there still some type of reduced binocular vision... any stereopsis?
can any one help.... |

RE: eccentric fixation
Mar 23, 2005 19:07:12 in a well esablished microtropia it is possible to have microtropia with identity. This means that even on cover on off cover test there wont be any movement seen.
Ie, angle of anomoly = angle of eccentric fixation point. However in large angle deviation it is possible to have eccentric fixation with ARC (anomolous retinal correspondence) but the angle of deviation does not have to correspond to the angle of deviation. If this is the case then on cover and off cover test, movement will be seen but the deviating eye will take up fixation at the eccentric point.
It is possible to have gross binocular stereopsis due to the larger peripheral panums fusional areaif ARC is present aswell.
