I knew it has been discussed many times before and most students tend to do ophth first because the examiner can fail you if you rush ophthalmoscopy.

However since I have been so used to do refraction first, I will lost my flow if I change it. In the exam if I unluckily get stuck in refraction and I only got 20mins left, can I rush it and then do a proper ophthalmoscopy?

They won't like it if they think yr rushing - so get into a rhythm and routine and keep to it until its second nature.

Do whatever order you feel comfortable with, either is safe but if you rush your retinoscopy and subjective you can fail just as easily as if you rush your ophthalmoscopy.

Make sure you have a clear idea in your mind of when you have to finish each part of your routine to finish on time and ask the examiner to give you timechecks to help you judge where you are. If it isn't routine for you to finish in 45 minutes doing all the tests you need to do in the exam ask your supervisor to do mock exams with you and practice, practice, practice.

Be careful though as you can fail if your history and symptoms are poor or your binocular assessment misses something significant, do your tests swiftly but well!
