Even though this is rare, what are a few of the causes of binasal hemianopias..??....Obviously the lesion would have to be on uncrossed temporal optic fibres and bilateral, but what causes???

Thanx

It would have to damage both the temporal fibres. This is caused by an aneurysm at the internal carotid artery. This damages one end of the temporal fibres, and then puts pressure on the chiasm forcing the other end of the chiasm to get damaged by the other internal carotis artery. thus this causes damage of the fellow temporal fibres

Most commonly caused by 2 separate lesions, one to each eye, eg, nasal step in BE due to bilateral glaucoma

If one lesion, must be at chiasm, eg aneursym of internal carotid pressing on lateral aspect of chiasm damaging these fibres, and pushing chiasm against hardened artery on other side, and thus damaging fibres on the other side of the chiasm.
