When doing a binocular refraction is it necessary to adjust the sphere by half of the cyl change or is this only for monocular refraction?

Better go read your Optics notes and understand why the change in sphere is made!

its both and/or either. Depends on what you want to do and why. Your notes will say it all. Be creative - move away from rules.

depends on whether the cyl is going up or down.

Whatever you do, make sure you understand what you are doing and can explain it clearly for the exam.

Examiners will not pass you if they do not believe you understand what you are doing.

That's all I'm saying.

Hmm, dust those first year notes..

yes it is. its exactly the same as monocular refraction but under bin conditions so saves bin balancing at the the end. hope that answers ur question but yes do read up on the theory, i was asked in routine exam.
