RE: occupational
Jan 13, 2005 16:11:18 I didnt visit a factory or work place and no one i knew did either during pre-reg yr. i basically revised from Work and the Eye by Rachel North and learned all the safety symbols and codes parrot fashion. The pass/fail criteria lies in the safety equipment stuff, as far as im aware. The book is set out really well and contains all of the stuff you need to know so just start at the first chapter and read it all!!!! |

I'm tempted to answer "Yes it's too late to start revising, give up all hope of passing this exam, in fact don't even bother to turn up!" but I'll resist, still it's a bit of a stupid question.
My more serious answer is if you don't start revising now then you will have even less time to try to learn everything you need to know.

RE: occupational
Jan 17, 2005 22:22:25 Sophie, sit down and have a nice cup of tea, you are getting too stressed! Make a revision timetable and spend time on the areas of referral criteria, anatomy, referral criteria, tests you undertake in Practice and what information they tell you and oh REFERRAL CRITERIA!!! Occupational optometry is a subject you do all the time. Assess patients visual requirements, occupational visual standards and the possible need for eye protection from hazards. OH, and also you could attend refresher courses. Ours have some places left, especially for occupational optom. which is in March. email The pre-reg Course Organisation on prco@btinternet.com for details. |

I know this a bit late, but if you haven't already seen it there is an online Occupational Optometry distance learning programme - to access this visit www.docet.info; the link is on the front page.
