I know the causes of keratitis and the signs of it eg. infiltrate etc but what actually is 'keratitis' itself?

"kerat"= cornea "itis"= inflammation

 

can be due to many causes such as bacterial, viral etc

it usually means surface (ie epithelial) conditions on the cornea - deeper - stromal infections are usually caused ulcers.
