Splitting Prisms
May 20, 2005 20:37:30 I know this sounds like a silly question!, but please can someone tell me how to split a prism? If a px requires 5BOut prism for the right eye, why can we not give it to them in full? What is the best way to split this prism? Thank you in advance! |

RE: Splitting Prisms
May 21, 2005 07:52:30 you keep the original amount of prism. you only split it because you want to decrease the thickness of the lenses, distribute the weight and improve the cosmetic appearance. most people split it in halfsm but this is not always truth, you can 'play' dependind on the prescrption. do not forget to change the base.eg for horizontal prisms you keep the same base but for vertical prisms you reverse it. |
