case recs
May 23, 2005 23:19:12 Just wanted some advice on:: If I havent had replies back from the GP/Oph re a px I may have referred, what do I do if i want to submit the case as a case record. Is is OK to ring up the Px, or just write in the case rec that no reply was recieved!!!

RE: case recs
May 23, 2005 23:34:11 Your records reflect what has happened in your first year of practice. I don't think your gonna fail for not having a reply in ur record. I must have referred about twenty or more Pxs in my pre-reg so far and I've only had one reply! As an optometrist you can't chase after every referral you make and as long as you have referred appropriately what can the examiner say? It might be an idea to phone the Px just to get an idea of what has happened in case u get any tough questions.

May 24, 2005 00:18:45 Do not hold your breath for replies from referrals! I often ring patients to find out how things turned out.On every occasion the patient is pleased that you are interested and very grateful to discuss with you what went on as often they want explanation. Often I tell them I will ring to find out the outcome for more urgent cases and they are very happy to chat about it. |

May 24, 2005 20:29:36 I never did for mine - but as Tim Hunter says if you got them, why not submit them - just for completeness. |
