After cataract surgery...we generally see px 4-6 wks after refraction...i was wondering what happens to IOPs in these px...are they usually quite low after cataract surg..and remain low...or they increase slightly after abt 6wks....

IOP is usually reduced by cataract surgery.

Determination of higher or lower valuse over a six week peri-operative period is difficult because of inter-individual variation, diurnal variation, changes due to varying degrees of anterior segment inflammation and steroid response.

I am also intrigued to ask why does it matter?

In glaucoma clinics Cataract extraction is often performed earlier for glaucoma patients with poor IOP control in an effort to reduce IOP further especially in those with shallow A/Cs and PXF
