Jun 01, 2005 10:02:26 I do retinoscopy with the same eye as I find the other eye hard to close, is there any technique in which this is possible? |

Jun 01, 2005 12:13:21 im not sure but i think near fixation ret/barrett method. look this up as i think its good for amblyopes, so may be ok for you if you find it hard to close your other eye (not saying your amblyopic but you know what i mean!!!) |

RE: ret
Jun 01, 2005 14:58:13 As i recall, you do "normal" distance fixation ret. on the eye in which this is possible, record result, then do same eye again with pt looking towards your forehead. Then do other eye, again with pt fixing on forehead. Adjust this result by the same as the difference between the other results. Hope that makes sense, can't think of a better way to explain it right now.
Hate to say it, but if you're thinking about this for refraction exam this month, you've left it a bit late - better get practising this technique on every pt, if you want to look like you have a clue in the exam. |
