Case Records
Jun 01, 2005 22:31:14 After going through my case records, again, ive picked up some errors/ omissions like CD ratios on the record not exactly that on GP referral letter, not recording near visions for 1st presbyope, plus other niggly things. Whats the best way to talk your way out of that in the exam? Keep quiet or come clean? If you done something dangerous could you say 'with my experience now I would've done.....'Hopefully won't need to do that mind! |

RE: Case Records
Jun 05, 2005 07:41:11 Difficult one, if they are obvious transcription mistakes then you may be able to defend them but frankly if youre case records are full of mistakes and legally they "reflect what you have done", you may find yourself in difficulty.
I'm afraid 'with my experience now I would've done.....'will not help you if you have done something unsafe. Hopefully for your sake the examiners mayn not notice small errors.
Sorry that's not very helpful but case records tends to be an exam you've mostly passed or failed before you do the oral! |

RE: Case Records
Jun 08, 2005 19:18:11 I have to disagree with Tim with regards to passing or failing before you have done the oral. Only if you have done something illegal or would get you into a GOC disciplinary hearing would you fail before the exam. The Case records exam is a discussion on management of patients and your records are supposed to be a starting point. if you have made one or two errors like you have described then it is best to come clean at the start that you have picked up these errors. I have passed a candidate on more than one occasion where I thought the records deserved a fail. If you can defend them or give a better management option when asked then this will go down well with most examiners. |
