i think a positive scotoma is one px aware of and a negative scotoma is one the px is not aware of.

I agree with maureen - negative scotomata are 'holes' in the vision of which the person is not aware. They can be total (blind spots) or relative (just less sensitive)

or Posative - that is holes in the vision which they ARE aware of. Still blind spots. They could be aware of them 'cos they scintilate as in migraine for example. I suppose the obstruction caused by spex rims are a posative scotoma.

Don't stress, lead, there is help ! Just one day at a time and enjoy it all.

Lead - you're not alone with feeling behind with revision!!! Everything I do seems to pail into oblivion when I see how much more there is left to do!

I'm just trying to do a few hours each day - if I don't fall asleep on my notes then its a bonus. Working full time and studying - bring back the uni life eh?!

Good luck mate - chin up and keep ploughing through.

Tips for revision

Go on a course preferably one run by the uni that you are going to take your exams at. then you will be better prepared for the actual exams as you will know what is coming and you will have met some of the patients and the examiners that you might be faced with on the day!!!

Lead, if you are feeling the strain take nicola's advice and go on a revision course. The Pre-reg Course organisation has two courses left before part a. 'Drugs,LVA & Occupational Optometry': Tuesday March 1st 2005, and Investigative Techniques (including Visual Fields) Wed.2nd MArch 2005 both at the Institute of Ophthalmology (behind Moorfields) in London. Email prco@btinternet.com for details.
