any ideas to wot degree of knowledge we need to know our cl materials,,if so where do u get such decient info?!? any websites would be fab!

The lenses you use in practice plus some other stuff, eg DK of some RGP materials and DK,water content and whether ionic or non ionic of some soft lenses. If you dont know everything about the lenses you bring with you or the soft lens you choose to fit you are asking for trouble!

yeah you need to be aware of advantages and disadvantages of the contact lenses you have used, both for RGPs and soft lenses. Need to know why you like to fit a particular lens. Best place to find out info is the manufacturers brochure - everyone has one in practice! and for RGP ring the manufactures, they are always more than happy to help you. As nichola said, dont give them amunition to hang you with! :)
