-you really don't need to buy books - use the internet !!

the best site for general ophthalmology is emedicine - registration is free, but for a few quid you can use thier extensive picture library of ocular conditions.

for those with broadband you can hear/see lectures (very good on laser and also dry eye) at http://www.ophthalmic.hyperguides.com

(free access)

http://www.revoptom.com/ is best for essays on upto date optom subjects - very good.

http://www.optometry.co.uk/articles is hte optom today archive of old clinical articles. Get the one on June 2004 dry eye - its briliant!

For pictures of oc diseases - it is laziest to simple ask the internet browser for pics! Works too!

http://www.academy.org.uk/ is the aao site and briliant for drugs and technique demo's

http://www.mrcophth.com/chua1.html is my secret weapon against the exam blues - a fabulous site with ocular exams in mind!

there are others - but these I think are good.

www.eyetext.net is worth a look as is redatlas.com

don't forget the BNF is available free online for all of you who haven't got an up to date one www.bnf.org.uk

For drugs do a google search for Lucy Titcomb's papers which are a bit more in depth than the ones written for OT.

prodigy.nhs.uk is a collection of clinical evidence based guidelines aimed at GP's and nurses but some of it proves interesting and worthwhile reading, least you now know where the GP's are coming from.

The mrcophth site mentioned by palfi has a good section of videos for motility and such like... and a Hess chart quiz, though how much you'll need that this year with no BV exam I'm not sure.

if you want to know how to use instruments and get tutorials on gonioscopy and things like that the go here

http://www.opt.indiana.edu/Riley/rileyshome.html

- there is some links from his site to a bril site dealing with animations of ocular palsies. You know the dreaded ocular muscles go ping - and you gotta know what happens to the eye. The animations make it look simple. mrcophth.com also deals with this - but in such a good way.

http://anatome.ncl.ac.uk/tutorials/eye/index.html is a bril site with animations on many topics of ocular neurology and eye disease. Very helpful before the exams!

Also on pathology is this site - but in a more general way http://www.gpnotebook.co.uk/homepage.cfm

I have a link to an animated site for diabetic retinopathy if anyone is interested/
