Anyone ever come across varifocal wearers complaining that a4 paper looks narrower at the bottom?

Is this non tolerance to varifocals or incorrect cyl?

i think this is due to the construction of a varifocal. if you imagine iso cylinder plots for various varifocal designs, you will see distortions towards the periphery.

anyone think otherwise?

could be how frame is sitting on face. If px has previous pair of varifocals, compare with new pair. Else try altering frontal angle and see what px says.

always check rx but too often fit is ignored today especially with unqualified staff.

It often seems to be due to pantascopic tilt, but i wear VF myself and whatever the fitting, i find the same problem. Worse with varifocals with narrow reading area i guess.
