what advice do we give to Px's who want to store their lenses (be it soft or RGP) for lets say 1 week. Or even 1 month without wearing them. How often do they change the solution. Does this vary for HP systems.

change all in one every week after freshening up the lenses by rubbing them. Wipe the case dry before refilling with solution. I don't think this changes for hydrogen peroxide systems either - acantha cysts can survive in these systems. Best to plan for the worse and hope for the best :-) palfi

Thanks...but i thought that the HP solution will break down into water-will this not cause a problem?

Hydrogen peroxide will break down into water if you add a chemical catalyst. If you don't it will remain highly effective, even killing Acanthoemeba cysts. However extended soaking in HP risks causing a change in some soft lens parameters. If you use a catalyst to neutralise the HP then you are left with a sterile water solution.
