last minute exam questions!
Jul 03, 2005 13:05:17 1. Whats the diff between sterilised & disinfected?
2. How long should an RGP wearer leave out lenses prior to refraction for new specs? (Ive been led to believe that it doesnt matter)
3.If a px brought in an outside CL Rx and i supplied lenses, should i provide aftercare? if so, for how long?
4. swimming & CL's, yes or no?
thankyou in anticipation! |

RE: last minute exam questions!
Jul 03, 2005 13:42:02 for q2) from what i've been told, ideally the wearer should come in without wearing RGP's (ideally overnight). However, if the Px wants to wear their spex straight away after taking lenses out and for short periods of time, then they can tke them out just before the refraction. not sure if i am convinced on this second point though. you read my mind as i am totally confused about this also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
someone HELP haha |

RE: last minute exam questions!
Jul 03, 2005 16:07:41 Disinfection reduces the amount of micobes. Sterilisation eliminates all microbes.
Modern rgp materials shouldn't really affect the refraction and even if it does most lens wearers will want to wear thier spex on removal of lenses.
With the change in the law regarding the supply of cls as long as the prescription for cls is valid.. no.
2 main risks to cl wear and swimming are loss of lens and infection. Goggles are a must IMHO or possibly daily disps. |

RE: last minute exam questions!
Jul 07, 2005 00:56:11 well, for CL,i think you need them for a certain amount of time before you undergo laser or catarct refraction assessment,so they might ask you why you only leave them out for a day, when for the above you require more time? Swimming?only in soft dalies with immediate removal,at px own risk,& advise goggles on top I dont think you have to offer aftercare,as you are only the suppleir and not the prescriber |
