Volk lenses
Jul 24, 2005 23:48:58 Does anyone have any advice to which lens is the best to buy? I use my supervisors 90D at the moment and want to get my own before I finish my pre-reg. I quite like the 90D but haven't really tried any others. Any advice welcome!! |

Jul 25, 2005 14:15:47 superfield is excellent, but in my experiance a 90D works jus as well.
Does anyone have any experiance using the super pupil on undilated pupils? and if so isit any good and worth considering? |

RE: Volk lenses
Jul 25, 2005 17:17:09 If you're only going to have one lens, I'd get a 90D, as it gives a resonable undilated view in most pts. Superpupil gives better undilated field of view, but reduced mag, so I never feel i'm seeing detail well enough. If I really can't manage a sufficient undilated view with the 90, I'd rather just dilate.
If you can afford it, I think a 90 and a 66 are a good combination - 90 for small pupils/undilated, and 66 for dilated. After a bit of practice you can often get a reasonable view in young, co-operative undilated patients with a 66 or 78, and the extra magnification compared to the 90 makes quite a difference. |

Jul 25, 2005 17:53:56 I have a 90D for general fundus examination either dilated or undilated, and a 60D for disc and macular stuff. I'd Like a Super 66 as you will get 1:1 maginifaction but they are fairly expensive. I did have a superfield but didn't like it as it was too difficult to use undilated. |

Jul 27, 2005 19:56:05 I use the new digital wide field volk. excellent lens even undilated. gives u mag of 78D with field of 90D (apparently). I really like it and as a newly qualified it is easy to use and I have been doin volk on nearly everyone... bit expensive but I bought mine from volk.com when it first came out and was worked out the same as volk from keeler (did have to pay import tax tho)... think it is available in UK now. |
