Does anyone know how many pre-reg's sat the PQEs just gone? Where could I find out? Am writing article.

Perhaps a blanket cull of 60% of NQ’s;

the badger cull met a lot of resistance though I think an optom’s life is probably worth less, they’d probably welcome being put out of their misery.

In the absence of any better suggestions I reckon we could give this serious thought ;-)

Hey guys, why all the negativity about NQ's. Weren't you that once?

Is it because its threatening the pay scales of optometrists?

We have so many Optometrists already but too few Dentists. The badger cull solution of Dogface could work, but surely the majority of new pre-regs could try their hand at Dentistry. It can't be that difficult - just a bit of drilling and sticking needles in. Perhaps the next CET course could address this?

Now theres a plan. 6 month conversion course anyone? Am sure Bradford could give it a bash.

i wish i had done dentistry, especially the way optometry is so retail based at the moment !!

i started dentistry - believe me this is better! (although it is difficult seeing my mates with new porshes and houses already....)

How much do dentists earn after a couple of years of experience

I think for private work ,the dentist gets 50% of their turnover - know one guy on £7k a month.... now that puts pre-reg salaries into perspective! But you do have to looks at teeth all day...eyes are much nicer!

NHS salaries are much lower.

I realised that money isn't everything - the dental profession is in a bit of trouble too, so the grass isn't always greener!
