35 year old healthy man

Nov 2003

R: -4.50/-0.50 x20 6/5

L: -4.25/-0.50 x160 6/5

Nov 2004

Noticed lt vision not as good

R: -4.50/-0.50 x20 6/5

L: -2.75/-0.50 x160 6/5

New specs given with review in 6 months

I see him the other day. Not having any problems, didn;t see why he had to come in for another check.

R: -4.75/-0.25 x20 6/4-

L: -2.00/-0.50 x170 6/5

I was thinking of some sort of central serous retinopathy. But the ret on the left eye gave around -0.75DS! and the macula seemed nice and healthy (coming back for dilation, although he wasn't happy about this either)

Any ideas what could have caused this shift?

possibly had a traumatic blow to the eye causing a slow change in Rx, possibly giving a movement or change of dimension to the lens

ematropisation could also be idiopathic and change for no clearly found reason. Sometimes it possibly could be related to choroidal thickening or scleral shrinking and this can sometimes cause choroidal folds (like ripples that tend to radiate from a particular spot).

Palfi

Wouldn't you think that ematropisation would be bilateral?
