Can anyone recommend a company which offers spectacle insurance, which can be purchased at the time of the spectacles being dispensed? Has anyone had any problems with implementing tis insurance or later making claims from the insurnce companies?

why not charge a premium and then bank the money. You pay for remakes out of the money you make what you don't use is clear profit? If you charge a set price say £20 and have a claim rate of 10% the £200 in premiums will more than cover any remake.

The ideal would be to sell on lower priced product and in effect self insure.

Maybe insure with a proper insurer for the high value product.

Note if you do it this way you can't call it spectacle insurance, I htink you can call it breakage cover or something like that.

again I believe sightcare did something along these lines.

Back in the early 80's we tried selling 'insurance' with specs. Uptake was very low, and it didn't take on. I tend to suggest they check its on their household insurance, if its a high value product.

i think you will find that most good household insurance companies will cover spectacles under personal effects catagory. I supply replacement specs for patients quite often and charge the insurance company directly. i will even collect the excess as part of the payment.
