RE: Independent Web Sites
Aug 10, 2005 18:23:59 depends what you want - I am going for a full flash site - This looks the best - I take it you are not doing any ecommerce? IF not flash is what you want. I am working to a low budget and have bought a full flash template for only $55 - it looks great. I will pay someone to edit it and put in a couple of extra things eg appointment request etc then upload it. You can have an amazing flash site for less than a couple of hundred if you find the right people to do it and no -one will ever know that it has been knocked up from a template. Some of the american boys do great stuff check out templates247.com or templatemonster.com - have a look at the flash section. Then find some poor student who is a whizz at flash to personalise it. IF you get a prof to do it from scratch youre lookin at easily a grand and you may be dissapointed with end result. Remember you are only an optician and you are not selling cheap flights - people will be impressed with a nice flash intro and some slick graphics - maybe some funky beats as well - hope this helps |

RE: Independent Web Sites
Aug 10, 2005 20:33:00 try our web-site www.ChaseEyecare.co.uk strictly non-commercial & loads of links to RNIB, Macular Society etc, set up by new practice owner, who specialises in LVA. Cost about £2 per year but strictly no on-line purchases. Inquirers must e-mail the site or phone in |

RE: Independent Web Sites
Aug 12, 2005 10:19:38 I quite liked it efarrant, though it has been commented on before that bland information appeals to me.
More constructively, you may wish to consider a larger font size, a less cluttered layout (always difficult)and the inclusion of more pictures, eg of testing happy shiny children, ophthalmic instruments eg slitlamp and topographers with print outs, and those with low vision.
I think its important to target your customers. A "funky beat" and whizzing graphics are unlikely to be hits with the reserved folk of Bridgwater. |

Aug 17, 2005 21:42:41 Have a lok at our www.keithholland.co.uk This was put together for 300 GBP including photography, and we can modify it ourselves. We used to have a really nice flash intro, but when I check the statistics for usage - we get around 1000 hits a month, almost everybody opts to skip the intro, so although flash looks nice, I think it is not worth it.
