CET Funding
Aug 26, 2005 19:33:46 It seems unfair that cet funding for optoms listed as assisstants go to the contractors they work for. With the multiples it is unlikely that this money will ever get to the optom who actually did the cet. Surely we should be allowed to chose what cet our funds should pay for and not be restricted to the cet provided by our employers, especially if there are areas you are more intersted in. |

RE: CET Funding
Aug 30, 2005 09:29:24 Totally agree. The money should go directly to the person who carries out the CET not the practice. I for instance only work one day a week and that’s on a self employed basis. I don’t think my contractor has any right to that money at all. As they don’t contribute in any way to me acquiring CET points. And the PCT won’t allow the payment to be made to my mate’s practice, as that’s not my “main” practice.
So I get paid less money than I used to. I now have to compete CET which gets paid to the company who pays me less. Hmmm maybe it’s time to cash in that MBCHB.

RE: CET Funding
Aug 30, 2005 10:05:58 Anybody got an idea how I claim this?
I have changed jobs since 2005. I now work both in hospital and for an Ophthalmologist privately. I therefore no longer perform GOS. However, the DOH form asks for my contractor at the time I'm claiming for (2004), and the contractor and PCT where the majority of my work is done now.
Does this mean that I cannot claim for CET undertaken in 2004 and 2005?
I can understand the rationale behind not being able to claim for CET undertaken in the future, as long as I am outside the GOS, since I cannot expect the DOH to fund someone who does not carry out GOS. However, it seems that you have to continue to carry out GOS to claim for previous years.
Any suggestions?
