Author Subject: glazing machines

We are thinking of upgrading our outdated glazing machines in the lab.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which ones are good at a reasonable price??

Does anyone use the Brio silver model, I have been quoted around £8000 for it which sounds quite reasonable considering it cuts glass, polycarb and plastic....

Any comments would be helpful

Thanks!

I am using briot accura, soon to update to axcell CL have found mainline very good, solid support and had no real problems with the kit, the silver is more basic than an accura I had a look over it at optrafair and thought it seemed good. £8k seems a good price.

hi johnjones,

we have good prices negotiated for essilor and nidek edgers, and even better prices for reconditioned machines. The essilor kappa with all types of lens cutting with polish and supra grooving comes highly reccomended as does the nidek sx9000. i use both and my practices and are very reliable high volume machines.

regards

I use the Briot Cx from Mainline . Good machine but struggles with very shallow shapes (less than 24mm) Back up good from Mainline and let me pay over a reasonable time without going through a leasing company.

ooh lads new Essilor Kappa on the market does all the usual day to day things but a=wait for it...it centres ur lens, regognises lens type and drills...makes coffee..ok thats a bit of an exaggeration...bit pricey but well worth it!

Very true Jill

i am trying this machine at the moment and its wicked. The coffee is good too. But seriously, the machine is accurate and finish is excellent.

Pricey, yes it is but it is alot of machine and imagine all the external glazing charges for rimless that will be saved. at between £20-£30 for each rimless and £10 upwards for supras, it won't take long to offset the cost of one of these machines
