What do I have to do to qualify for the Therapeutics Extensions

Dec 06, 2005 17:29:40 My understanding is that you must complete a training course that is accredited by the GOC. I believe that the Institute of Optometry is accredited as is City University with Glasgow and perhaps Bradford hoping to be accredited soon. The IoO course is distance learning followed by a theory examination (MCQ) and clinical examination (station exams). After completion of the theory exams the supervised practice can begin with 6 days (12 half days) required for additional supply and a further 6 days (12 half days) required for Supplementary Prescribing. Subsequently there is the College's Common Final Assessment Viva to pass, details of which are on the CoO website. Hope that helps. |
