should amplitude of accommodation be measured when testing presbyope? if so, how because they are unable to read N5 without their reading Rx!

By age 50 there is little useful accomodation left, so there is little point in measuring it.

But I personally, always measure the depth of focus with the reading Rx. I do it monocularly as a check of binocular balancing, and binocularly to make sure I have given them a decent focal range and not too close. I do it on everyone.

With early presbyopes - its different and worth doing - if only to show the patient the effect of reading glasses!
