Jun 13, 2006 22:57:38 are the examiner guidelines available to us pre-regs? similarly are the mark sheets the examiners use available to us and are the answer sheets we will write on available? so for example in competency 6.7 The ability to manage a patient presenting with reduced vision.......... have the examiners been given guidelines for exactly which conditions they are allowed the ask on and which they arent? |

Jun 15, 2006 07:49:27 I think the answer is no, no and possibly. With regard to the "answer sheets" for ODA they are simply an A4 sheet with two boxes with the wording "Please describe what you have seen. Both diagrams and / or word descrip[tions are acceptable." and "Based on the case history given, and your observations above, indicate your provisional diagnosis." With 6.7 the performance criteria are that a candidate "differnetially diagnoses and appropriately manages patients presenting with reduced vision. Understands the relevant treatment options." There are suggestions on conditions that examiners can ask about but it is not prescriptive. |
