Hi,

I just have one more question-for now!

With fixation disparity, if one line is higher than the other, then I put prism BD in the eye with the higher line, but on many patients I have found that they say this makes the higher line go even higher. Please can you tell me if I am doing the right thing, and if so, why this is happening.

Thank you, Sara

Hi

now this depends on which way up the polarising filter is! Best to quickly check it before you see your px, put it on and test yourself with a prism. You are doing the right thing :-)

If the line is higher in one eye, that eye is LOWER than the other (hypo) so it sees the line as higher (think e.g right eso deviation, right eye sees line to the right but the eye is turned in). So to correct, need to use base UP prism.

Hope it makes sense, let me know if not I will write a more detailed explanation.
