hi, is it really required to know all the wierd and wonderful different uveitis's like sarcoid, behcets etc etc or is it just required to know anterior/posterior/intermediate. also there is a rumour saying that confrontation is no longer required as part of an examiner meeting, could you please clarify this thankyou

I am not an examiner - but I would expect you to do it.

I do think that you should do confrontation. It only takes a second to do and you can't really say if the person has enough visual field to be able to legalliy drive a car if you don't do it. (V/A is not enough - there is a width of field requirement)

You should know about uveitis in its various forms. I think you will find that sarcoidosis, R. arthritis, lupus, IBS and Chrons etc. is fairly commonly met in practice.

They are all immune-related diseases and I think you need to know that they cause inflamations within the eye as well as outside of the eye (ie: in the bodies organs). Don't forget they also cause episcleritis and scleritis.
