Mar 14, 2005 18:42:10 How does the pulsair work? i can't find any clear and detailed material containg this info. It has 3 diodes but, When does the pulsair know when to fire
thanx for helping

RE: Pulsair tonometer
Mar 14, 2005 20:14:23 when correct alignment is achieved ie vertically, horizontally and the correct proximity from the cornea, then the outer two detectors (of the three detectors) will recieve full stimulation thus auto signalling the applanation. Once full applanation of the 3.06 mm diameter is achieved then the middle detector ( of the three detectors) will recieve full stimulation and minimal stimulation to the surrounding outer two detecors. This is the end point taken for the measurement. The keeler pulsair measures direct appanation thus users a tranducer to convert the pressure measured into an electrical reading.
Hope i got this one right :) |

RE: Pulsair tonometer
Mar 15, 2005 19:47:50 yep i agree, the 3 diodes simply determines when the eye is aligned in all 3 planes. The air is deliverd from a reservoir from the base unit and a solenoid does this, as you probably know that the pulsair stops once a reading is taken as has correctly said that this happens when the centre diode has been fully stimulated. |
