Hints on how to make a sight test routine easy and smooth.
Mar 01, 2007 19:14:04 I'am a pre reg, started in august 2006,I will have my second assessment in few weeks, I always try to do everything I have learnt in college to get the best VA, to satify my assesser, do the BV assessment good ophthalmoscopy, good refraction, ret and subjective, but I find this time consuming and my supervisor want me to speed up and do a ST every 30 mins, at the moment I do a ST every 40min but lag behind in some accasion it take me an hour or more, i would really apreciate your advices on how to make my routine much smoother. is pre reg meant to have more time to do a st (1 hour per test or there no such thing. many thanks |

Mar 03, 2007 19:37:13 Hi, I wrote ideas before on this board - and you can search for these. Basically, you are dong well. Now, pick appart all the stuff you learned at college and see if you can do it differently. I counted each lens step during my subjective to see if I could reduce my lens changes. I found I could. I altered my history - to suit the person I was seeing -so I didnot ask children about family history of glaucoma (for example). I found I prefered ophthalmoscopy after the subjective ('cos the test was neatly cut in two - the eye test and writing the Rx and then the health check. Anyway, there you are. If you want to discuss this stuff and have a chat - we can try set up messenger hotmail - my best day is mondays at 9pm - my address written backwards is moc.liamtoh@dadnyem. -all the best - steve |

Mar 03, 2007 21:21:42 I could write loads on this - but just as a kind point, I will say that having been qualified for a few years and spent time trying to get quicker: my best optimum speed is 26 minute testing. I could take longer. I now write with one hand while test with the other and so get my timings down to 20 minutes! |
