is it fail in the routine final if you can't use the left eye to examine the patient left eye, I use the right eye most of the time because it is really hard to use the left and get a good estimation of the reflex, it seem like hazy reflex even though my VA is 6/5 on my left eye.

thank you

It is regarded as best practice to use your right eye to examine the patient's right eye etc. The only reason an examiner would be happy for you to use one eye only for retinoscopy or ophthalmoscopy would be if you were amblyopic. They will ask you in the clarification questions at the end why you only used one eye and will not be impressed that three years of university and one year of PRP have not allowed you to develop better practice. You may not fail because of this but it would definitely count against you not least because it is not pleasant for a patient to have you leaning across them to examine their left eye.

I also found Lt eye hazy after doing Rt eye, even though like you I have 6/5 vision. The way around this for me was to do Lt eye 1st, that way I eliminated the haze of the Lt eye, and didnt suffer it with my dominant Rt eye.

Try it, it may help.

the haze is almost certainly due to not looking centrally through the eyepiece. Try wiggling he oph. about to centre it up.
