newly qualified
Oct 08, 2007 10:15:04 Hi, I am newly qualified and my employers are keen to have me testing now without supervision; however i have not yet received my GOC number and NHS list number. Once I receive my GOC number am I then able to test or must I have my list number also? Also, if you are testing in another store with an optician other than your supervisor, how many years should the other optician have been qualified before they canact as a supervisor for you on that one day? If anyone could answer any of these questions I'd be very greatful, thanks. |

RE: newly qualified
Oct 09, 2007 08:47:58 Once you have received your GOC number you can test private patients unsupervised but you must wait until you are registered with your local strategic health authority/primary care trust before seeing NHS patients. If you are being supervised by somebody other than your registered supervisor there is no qualifying period as long as they are GOC registered they are OK to do it.
