DOCET team scoops prestigious award

17 April 2007

A DVD produced on behalf of DOCET, the Directorate of Optometric Continuing Education and Training, was commended at the IVCA (International Visual Communications Association) Awards, which took place on 30 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The “Developing Clinical Skills” DVD, was produced by Cheerful Scout as part of the DOCET distance-learning project, after the DOCET Executive Committee identified advanced investigative techniques as one of the priority training areas for optometrists. For the first time, the DVD allowed practitioners to view optometric examination techniques from the perspectives of both the patient and the optometrist.

The DOCET team won the bronze award in the Practical Training category at the recent Awards Ceremony, regarded by many as the most important event of its kind in the world. Alena Crook, Project Manager for DOCET, commented “This was DOCET’s most innovative training project yet, combining interactive DVD technology with comprehensive and up-to-date information on optometric practice. Feedback from optometrists to the DVD has been positive and we are delighted to receive such a prestigious award.”
