GOC Chief Executive announces retirement
10 March 2008
Peter Coe today announced that he will retire from his post as Chief Executive and Registrar of the General Optical Council (GOC) at the end of July 2008 as he reaches his sixtieth birthday.
Following discussion with Peter the Council supports him in his view that this is an appropriate time for him to hand over to a new chief executive in preparation for a newly constituted Council.
Chairman of Council, Rosie Varley, paid tribute to Peter’s achievements in taking forward a substantial reform programme since his appointment in 2001 and wished him well for the future.
The timing and arrangements for recruitment of a new chief executive will be discussed by Council during a private session at its meeting next week.
