The LOC has appointed a new Head of Unit.

03 September 2007

Georgina Gordon will take up the role on 10 September 2007 and is the first person to be appointed to the role.  She will oversee the service and ensure that it helps Local Optometric Committees (LOCs) meet the new challenges for enhanced services as well as acting as a focal point for communication across and between the LOCs in their ongoing work as the local voice of the professions.

LOC Support Board Member, Bob Hughes, said: “Georgina comes to the support unit with an impressive track record in the NHS.  She has great experience and a proven ability to break down barriers whilst working within the NHS structure.  She will be a great asset to LOCs and to the sector.”

Georgina previously worked as Director of Commissioning at Harrow Primary Care Trust and has a wealth of experience in general management and nursing in the NHS.  Her career has spanned a wide range of health provision from national tertiary to community services and has a strong track record of improving service quality.
