NLH Eyes & Vision Specialist Library Glaucoma Annual Evidence Update

24 November 2008

The NLH Eyes & Vision Specialist Library is presenting the 2008 Annual Evidence Update on Glaucoma from 24 to 30 November.   An Annual Evidence Update is a collection of evidence that has emerged over the past twelve months concerning a particular condition.

For the purposes of this Annual Evidence Update (AEU), the term “glaucoma” is used to cover primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) and normal tension glaucoma (NTG). Ocular hypertension is also included here as it is a strong risk factor for developing glaucoma.

The evidence is presented through a number of topics reflecting the care pathway and has been categorised into secondary publications (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), interventional studies (randomised control trials and clinical control trials) and observational studies.

Topics include:
  • Epidemiology
  • Screening
  • Medical management
  • Optic disc imaging - diagnosis and disease monitoring
  • Assessment of visual field progression
  • Patient education
  • Living with Glaucoma and low vision services
Links to the full text articles are provided where available and links to PubMed abstracts in all other cases. Links to the original 2006 National Knowledge Week and 2007 update are also provided.

Printable and low vision accessible web versions are also available.
