Production Company seeking optometrists to help mark 60th anniversary of the NHS
Production Company seeking optometrists to help mark 60th anniversary of the NHS
29 February 2008
Blast! Films, an award-winning Television Production Company based in London, have been commissioned by the BBC to make a 90 Minute documentary to mark the 60th birthday of the National Health Service. They are interested in the reasons why the NHS was needed, who supported and who opposed it, and what problems had to be overcome in setting it up.
Part of the story will be told through oral history, and the researchers at Blast! are particularly interested in talking to those people who witnessed the negotiations in the early days of the NHS, especially, those within the healthcare professions.
Blast! have approached the College to help them identify any Members who remember the early days of the NHS and who would be happy to share any memories, experiences or thoughts. The production team has already talked to doctors, nurses and patients and would be delighted for those working within optometry to be represented in the documentary too.
If you would like to help or can suggest someone who might be able to do so, please contact Faye Hamilton at Blast! Films for a chat, on 020 7267 4260 or fhamilton@blastfilms.co.uk or at 2 Imperial Works, Perren Street, London, NW5 3ED.
