DOCET Offers New Distance Learning Courses
DOCET Offers New Distance Learning Courses
13 August 2002
This year, for the first time, DOCET tendered for a distance-learning course with the content to complement that offered in the tendered courses of Cataract and Learning Disabilities. Following a tendering process, the joint bid from Optician magazine and Net lectures was successful.
The Distance Learning will be sent to all UK optometrists free of charge in two editions. The first will cover the pre and post management of Cataract patients and the second will focus on managing patients with learning disabilities. There will also be a CDROM with video clips to support the articles.
Mr Bill Harvey, Clinical Editor of Optician stated:
"We are delighted with the decision by DOCET. Any move to increase access to good quality CET should be welcomed. We hope this new venture will fit well with our aim to introduce greater variety in the way distance learning CET is produced and designed in the future."
Both sets of articles will be submitted for College CET approval, and it is hoped that those unable to attend one of the regional courses will enjoy receiving their educational material in this format. It is intended to distribute the articles in May 2003, after all the courses have been completed.
